I'm trying to figure out how to summarize the weekend we just had. It was...interesting? Busy? Crazy? D, all of the above?
The move itself went very smoothly, made possible by our wonderful friend Mark and some men from our current and new ward. If you can believe it, we had the truck unloaded at the new house in 40 minutes.
Under an hour.
Which is funny, because I went to go grab a couple of pizza's to say thank you and when I got back they were gone, leaving us with three large pizzas. It didn't help either that I got a little lost on the way back, taking the wrong fork in the road. We also had a surplus of Costco muffins and orange juice (thanks for the loading up crew) and that's pretty much what Caleb and I have eaten since Friday. Cold pizza and muffins. We're on day three now, and I have major grocery store plans today. As well as major Target and Ikea runs.
Oh, the days when all three trips were possible!
Wyatt did well, though moving day and Sunday happen to be the worst nap-wrecker days in the history of Wyatt, but thankfully he's still a happy boy.
Yesterday after church Caleb and I dedicated about 10 hours to the putting-away of the kitchen. Yes, it took that long, and yes, Caleb was ready to strangle me. I warned you, the putting away of kitchen items is a huge deal to me. It didn't help that as I stood around and looked at it, I realized that we are yet again pantry-less. What is the DEAL? We haven't had a proper pantry since we've been married, and I always feel like ringing up the landlord and asking him where he expects me to put my Cookie Crisp. Isn't that the whole point of the kitchen? Food? Preparing food, eating food, storing food...
So it took a little while (read: hours) for me to figure out where to put everything (the BEST PLACE POSSIBLE, remember?), and I'm hoping to come up with a good solution for the food so that we don't have to get down on all fours to get at it. Although that might deter me from mindless snacking...
In other news, I think I figured out how to work the heater and AC! It scares me every time it kicks on, but at least we're warm.
The house itself is good, I'll post pictures when it isn't full of half open boxes. That's always the worst part of moving, it looks crazy when it's full of boxes, but then when you start putting things away it looks like a bomb went off. It's a good thing our TV hasn't been set up yet because we can hardly see it anyway, that, and the couch is full of Items To Be Put Away.
We've been joking that the neighborhood must have been settled by the Swiss because all the homes have these funny little pointed roofs, and have dubbed the house The Chalet. Sounds very formal and stuffy, a far cry from reality. The neighborhood seems nice, and there are several parks nearby. There is even a squirrel for Bear to chase in the backyard, so he's happy.
Alright, time to go make the house a HOME.

I think I could live off cold pizza and Costco muffins, as long as the muffins are of the double chocolate variety. Can't wait to see pictures!

Well at least post a picture of the OUTSIDE of "The Chalet", would ya?

I'm so jealous of your central heating and air, plus insulation, you ARE moving up in the world. Now that you have an extra bedroom, maybe we'll make another trip out there this summer??
