So far, solids are not going well.
After that first trial night Wyatt started refusing rice cereal. And I don't mean he choked, or cried or something, I mean he refused to eat it. Mouth pursed, head turned as far away as possible. We tried distracting him, Caleb danced around behind me like a monkey (literally and figuratively) and every time I slid in some cereal he got upset. We were totally tricking him, and he caught on.
So tonight we decided to try something else, maybe he just didn't like the taste of rice cereal? I went grocery shopping today and picked up a small can of peas (this may not have been the best choice, but whatever...) to try. I plan to try my hand at making my own food, but have yet to pick up the book I'm going to use and I wasn't about to make an entire batch of peas if he refused them as well.
So. Well.
Maybe I'll just show you what happened.
Happily gumming on a spoon, he has no idea what's about to happen.
His first bite, and he's deciding how he feels about it.
And then, well.
He made his point.
Peas are on hold, for now. Clearly.

Sweet potatoes might be a winner...?

OK, please stop reading if you don't want advice. I hate giving advice. But I'm going to do it anyway.
If he doesn't want food right now, don't force it.
We gave the Flurg some rice cereal once, then waited a week or so to try it again. I went very slowly, and that is totally OK. Remember, they don't actually need food until they are much older than Wyatt is.
I've also read that fruits should be intro'd first. I thought it would be the other way around, but alas. Maybe next time, go with bananas, but not homemade ones (you know what I mean), as those are lumpier and less likely to be embraced at first.

Reagan loves peas and hates sweet potatoes, so who knows? Reagan also LOVES to eat baby food, she acts like she's been WAITING FOREVER for us to finally feed her baby food, and Kami hated it. My only question is how did your baby grow up so fast?!
Also, I've heard that you should feed vegetables before giving fruits because you don't want them to get attached to the sweet fruits first and then not eat vegetables. But who knows?

We went through the same thing with Adam. It was super frustrating for me because I felt like, "I have to feed my baby!". So, I totally understand. Its really true what they say about how kids will all of a sudden one day just eat something that they REFUSED to eat before. I think I gave up trying to feed it to him for a while and then tried again a week or two later. Not that you're asking. :-)
Good luck! You're doing great!

Also, make sure that he is hungry, but not too hungry. Let him nurse just a little so that he isn't have a crying fit, but don't let him get enough where he is not hungry anymore. Hang in there, he will eat eventually!
