I stayed up till 1 am last night making turkey roll ups. A sacrifice, maybe, but it had to be done if I was going to keep on schedule.
Today was Wyatt's first birthday party.
We started off the morning right, with Wyatt sleeping in until 8, a full 45 minutes later than normal. Sounds excellent, right? Well it would normally be fantastic, but he's our alarm clock. I was running late and I hadn't even got out of bed.
Took a little extra time to cover up that scar on my chin, too.
I put Cabe in charge of Wy, and I left to make the final preparations for the party. After coming up with all sorts of themes, animals because he likes it when we make the noises, monkeys because we call him that, I went with a simple ball theme. He loves balls.
We had it at our church so that we could let the kids have a bit of room to play.
We set up a few tables for food and filled the room with balls and balloons. We included our kiddie pool with some small plastic balls for the little kids, though the big kids seemed to enjoy it as well.
We had turkey roll ups, pb&j's, fruit (i tried to do melon balls, though only figured out how to make them into actual balls by the time i was finished...) round tortilla chips, and clementines. To keep it as clean as possible, I brought only water. With a twist.
Wy Water. It just tastes better!
I believe it was a success.
Wy had a blast.
Though I don't know which he liked better, all the balls and kids, or having his very first cupcake.
Annnnnnnd oops!
So he had most of a cupcake...
And what does the Wy Man wash down such delicacies with?
That's right! Wy Water! Does a birthday boy good.
To thank everyone for coming, we handed out a little favor bag.
I tried a new recipe for the sugar cookies, and in this case, the third time really was the charm. Meaning because of my stupidity, my first two batches were duds. Forgot to double the butter, did...something wrong...and then finally! It was my first attempt at royal icing as well, and I do have to say I enjoy the stuff. Very interesting texture, and I loved how smooth it was.
And now it's all over, and look what happened! Where did my little baby go?
(showing off his new bean frogs from Auntie Abby and Uncle Brian...he loves them!)

Looks awesome! Wish we could've come.
